I actually have two maxicards from Italy that I am excited to share with you this week.
I wasn't a fan of rugby until recently and I love this maxicard. It showcases the Italian Rugby Team during the first time they were added to the five nations, thus creating "Sei Nazioni", or what is now known as the Six Nations Rugby Championship.
Another beautiful maxicard honouring the most successful and popular cyclist of all time, the Italian Fausto Coppi, on his birthday. He won his first Giro d’Italia in 1940 at age 20 - to this day the youngest ever to do so. He went on to win Giro d'Italia four more times, in 1947, 1949, 1952, and 1953. He also won Tour de France two times (1949 and 1952) as well as the World Championship in 1953. More about Fausto Coppi's illustrious cycling career here and here.
Both maxicards were sent by two of my favourite Italian sisters/postcrossers back in 2009. Did you see the cool FDC postmarks on the cards? Awesome!
Grazie mille, ragazze!

I love the Six Nations stamp!
Great cycling stamp, really captures the moment, nice cancel. By coincidence I saw a picture of Coppi on stamp recently and now am trying to remember which country issued it.
I have spent too much time washing rugby kit to want anything further to do with that particular sport. :) I must agree though, that the card and stamp are beautiful, full of action. The cycling stamp too, you can feel the effort needed to go uphill.
Great to see the rugby stamp. The Italians enhance the Six Nation's tournament. I have posted an Italian cycling stamp as well but it doesn't match that of Coppi.
Great cards. I especially like the cycling one. I had never heard of Fausto Coppi before.
I watched the rugby world cup this year for the first time. Still don't understand the game, but found it interesting to watch.
Those postmarks are way cool!!
Wonderful - the whole package, including the cancels. thanks for participating.
