Here is the first and only postcard from Gibraltar in my collection:

| At the end of his cycling tour of western Europe, my husband sent this postcard to me before heading back to England. |
Gibraltar is a UK territory located in the southern tip of mainland Spain. I guess this postcard tells us clearly about where in the world is Gibraltar.
My husband came along the coast, from the bottom left of the photo, towards Gibraltar, in red. He told me about the bus-loads upon bus-loads of tourists, very obvious because they're wearing name tags, wandering around the town doing touristy stuff.
Gibraltar - a 7km2 British-owned triangle of land on the southern tip of Spain - is a relic of the times of massive naval battles, captured to protect the mouth of the Mediterranean. Nowadays, ‘the rock’ is an intriguing blend of English and Spanish culture, with balmy weather and towering views to Morocco. - Source
That's the Rock of Gibraltar and my husband's bicycle.

A friend of mine lived in Gibraltar for 2-3 years but that was quite a time ago, probably before the tourists arrived. She loved it there. I sometimes think busloads (and shiploads) of tourists should be moderated somehow. They can be overwhelming at times in small places. Venice, Monaco, come to mind. And yet these places depend on the revenue so it's hard to know what could be done.
I agree - these mass of tourists also come to visit the ancient temples of Angkor. And you know how badly the country needs the revenues from tourism, but at the expense of the culture and its environs. The temples are really, really old and with the tourists coming in huge numbers, they are endangering the temples.
Fun card and filled with memories for both you and your husband. Tourists ... can't live with then or without them!!!! Happy PFF!
I've heard of Gibralter, and even knew it was fairly small ... but I guess I never realized how tiny it really is. It seems a fun place to visit though, except that I HATE crowds!
Happy PFF!
Nice image. i had no idea that it was British owned.
OMG I can't believe I didn't comment here ! Sorry for visiting you back so late dear. Actually Gibraltar was only for me the name of a channel. I kind of heard about a link with spain and morocco but couldn't say much more about it. So thank to you. I'll be able to localize it on a map.
The picture with your husband's bicycle look just like a beautiful postcard. Life is full of unexpected beauties.
